Schroders is hosting our second event for Company Secretaries in UK Financial Services on 13th October.
We kicked off our CoSec series earlier this year having recognised the alignment between the challenges faced by Non-Executive Directors, and the role of the Company Secretary – particularly in a regulated environment.
Hosted at Schroders’ offices in Farringdon, the session will take the form of a roundtable discussion over breakfast, facilitated by Ben Blackett-Ord of NEDs in FS, with plenty of time for open exchange between participants. The discussion will focus on how the Company Secretary role supports effective board oversight and strong working relationships with Chairs and NEDs.
The agenda will be led by participants, with topics likely to include the evolving expectations around board information and reporting (including the use of AI), striking the right balance between strategy and risk, approaches to minute-taking in a scrutinised environment, and the realities of managing board and stakeholder relationships — particularly where there are tensions or constraints. Time permitting, we’ll also touch on succession, recruitment and how the CoSec role itself is evolving. Let us know what you would like to prioritise.
